RFT Accepting Nominations for EA of the Year

The Robbinsdale Federation of Teachers (RFT) is seeking nominations for the local Education Assistant of the Year.  This is the second year that the RFT is recognizing the phenomenal work that educational assistants do each day.

Nominations will be accepted through April 23, 2012, and anyone can nominate - teachers, students, parents, and community members. Self-nominations are also accepted.  The nomination form can be found online by clicking here.

Cooper Selected to National CohortCHS logo

 

Robbinsdale Cooper High School has been selected to participate in the 2012 Cohort of the Learning Forward's Learning School Alliance.  The Learning School Alliance is a collection of individual schools committed to collaborative professional development with educators in their school and those in other schools around the country and in Canada.

 

Both teachers and administration will receive training and coaching, and work with schools across the nation to share their goals, their progress, and their results.  Click here to read more.

AHS Student Athletes Sign Letters of Intent

AHS logoCongratulations to Katlyne Duffey and Michael Greenberg, seniors at Robbinsdale Armstrong High School who recently signed letters of intent.  Katlyne signed with Fort Lewis College in Colorado to play lacrosse and Michael signed with the Minnesota State University, Mankato to play golf.

District Elementary Students are 'Math Masters'!

Students at Sonnesyn, along with students at Meadow Lake Elementary, captured team first place honors at the 5th grade Math Masters tournament held at Forest Elementary last week.  Individual first place winners on the two teams were Ben Aoki-Sherwood from RSIS and Jackson Marquardt from Forest in the individual category, and Dan Schlitzer from Zachary Lane and Ryan Giguere from Meadow Lake in the Facts category.

Sonnesyn Chess Students head to State Tournament

Congratulations to students across our elementary schools for putting into practice what they've learned in math.  The chess students at Sonnesyn Elementary have capped an undefeated season by capturing their first league championship under the great coaching of Mike Klein and his assistants.  Best of luck to all of the district chess teams who will compete at the upcoming State Chess Championship tournament on April 21st.

Creative Play Preschool Fall OpeningsCreative Play

 

Registrations are being accepted for Robbinsdale Area Schools' Creative Play Preschool.  Creative Play serves children 3, 4, and 5 years old.  Program goals are to provide a foundation for future success in school through directed play and helping children develop positive attitudes toward learning, themselves, and others.  Small groups are taught by a licensed preschool teacher and an education assistant.

 

Classes are mornings or afternoons for two to three times per week.  Reduced tuition is available on a limited basis to families who qualify. Register at 763-504-5330 or www.ced.rdale.org.

Whiz Bang DaysRobbinsdale Whiz Bang Days Ambassador Scholarship Program 

 

Ambassador candidates are needed for the 2012-13 Miss Robbinsdale competition which serve as Goodwill Ambassadors for the Robbinsdale Whiz Bang Days festival.  Candidates must either attend a Robbinsdale Area School, live in the city of Robbinsdale or have parents/guardians who work in Robbinsdale.  Junior Ambassador candidates must be in kindergarten through grade 2.  Queen candidates must be between the ages of 15 and 22.  Click here for complete details.

Effective April 1, 2012, Microsoft is no longer offering discounted software to staff and students through the district's licensing agreement.
