Principal's Update 10/09/2024

Hello Roadrunner Families,

It was so great to see so many of you connecting with your students' teachers at conferences over the last two weeks.  If you missed your conference, but still would like to hear about your child's growth, please call or email your child's teacher to set up a phone call or meeting.

Picture day was today!  Your child's photos will be emailed to you within the next few weeks.  You order from the email and photos are sent right to your house.  If your child missed today, or will need retakes, our retake day is Tuesday November 12th.

This week and next brings some days off.  Please remember there is no school this Friday October 11th for Yom Kippur.  The 17 and 18th of October brings the statewide teacher convention and there is no school those two days either.

Finally, be sure to join our PTA meeting on Monday October 14th.  Our new superintendent, Dr. Staloch, will be here to present and hear from you.

In Partnership,

Principal Smith

From the Media Center

Every student has been given an iPad (k-2) or a Chromebook (3-5). They will remain at school for now. The students have learned how to use their device and how to take care of it too. We have been learning about what it means to be a good Digital Citizen by treating others online with respect and kindness. Students have also been checking out books from the media center so be sure to ask them about the books that they are reading and remind them to return the books when they are done reading them.

Mr. Noble

Help Neill Elementary School Give Our Roadrunner Mascot A Makeover!!

Neill Elementary School is an extraordinary community to be a part of! Please help us highlight our school pride by donating to purchase a new Roadrunner Mascot costume. Our mascot, Red, always wants to look fabulous when representing Neill at various events, so an upgrade is needed.

Students and families gravitate towards Red at events because of the positive, inclusive vibe the mascot's presence creates. Throughout the school year, we welcome students and families to attend a variety of social engagements at Neill. Our community loves the engaging energy that Red the Roadrunner brings to each event.

In addition to school events, our mascot enjoys participating in community and district level activities. Whether it is a homecoming parade or a city festival, Red the Roadrunner is sure to represent Neill Elementary School in a loveable and entertaining manner. Please help Red the Roadrunner show off a new look at Neill Elementary School by donating to our fundraising efforts!

Weekend Kidpack Program

Neill Elementary has a partnership with Calvary Lutheran Church, and The Food Group to provide food on the weekends for children who attend our school.

On the last day of the week, students will be given a Weekend KidPack, which will be inserted in the child's existing backpack, with a number of food items inside.  The program is completely voluntary and is at not cost to the students and their families.  If you family is experiencing financial difficulties and you are interested in participating, just pick up a form from the front office.

Students are not allowed to open food packs on the bus or while in school.  They must wait until they are home.  School bus drivers are advised of this.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call 763-504-7400.

Orchestra Demo for Students

Thinking about playing a musical instrument next year?  This is the time to think about what you might like to play!  The orchestra will be performing demos on September 5, 2024 to introduce the instruments of the orchestra to the 4th grade students!  The demos will be at Neill School during the school day.

Listen to the instruments at the demo and decide which instrument you might like to play next year, and in Middle School and High School!
