Vaccine Clinics at Armstrong, Cooper High Schools, Robbinsdale Middle School, Now Open to Public

Dear Families of Robbinsdale Area Schools,

An update to the school-based vaccine clinics being held next week: the District mini-vaccination clinics at Armstrong and Cooper High Schools and Robbinsdale Middle School will now be open to the public as well as students.

At these clinics, district students 12-years-of-age and older, and any member of the community, will be eligible to receive their first or second dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. Students and children 12-years-of-age and older, must have a completed parent consent form. A second clinic will be held later in June at Robbinsdale Middle School for those needing their second dose of the COVID vaccine. More details on specific dates and times will be shared next week.

The mini-clinics will be held during the school day with minimum disruption to learning. Students who have a completed parent consent form will be escorted by class to receive their vaccine, wait for observation during a mandatory 15-minute period after receiving it, and then return to class to resume their learning. Adults and other members of the community coming to the school to attend the clinic should check-in at the school’s main office and will be escorted to the vaccine site. Please note, the vaccination clinics currently happening at Crystal Learning Center (11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, June 1) and FAIR School Crystal (8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 3) are not currently open to the public.

What’s required?

• Parents/guardians must sign the parent consent form (available in English, Spanish and Somali), and students should bring the signed copy with them on their vaccination day. Students or community members who are 18-years-of-age or older do not need parental consent to be vaccinated but need to sign a consent form themselves. 
• Parents/guardians can also email completed consent forms. Schools will provide building-specific details with a follow-up message in the next day or two, including where to email the form.
• Vaccines will NOT be given to students who do not have a signed consent form.
• Individuals MUST be at least 12-years-old on the day of their vaccination.

Important to know

• The clinics will provide the Pfizer vaccine only, which has been approved for people who are 12-years-of-age or older.
• Second doses of the Pfizer vaccine can be administered 21 days (or 3 weeks) after the first dose. COVID-19 vaccines are not interchangeable. If you received a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, you should get the same product for your second shot.
• COVID-19 vaccination is free and does not require insurance.
• People with a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to any vaccine or injectable (intramuscular or intravenous) medication OR any component of the COVID-19 vaccine should consult with their health provider to assess risk prior to receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. Everyone else with severe allergic reactions to foods, oral medications, latex, pets, insects, and environmental triggers may get vaccinated.
• People should not attend a vaccination clinic if:
  • They have had COVID-19 within the past 14 days.
  • They have any symptoms of COVID-19.
  • They are currently in quarantine due to close contact exposure.
